This week’s Fab 4 is, well, the square root of 4 which is 2!

I want to spotlight two inventive dog advocates that are promoting entirely different things, have totally different styles, and who are equally passionate in their mission to help dogs. I met both of them at BlogPaws last weekend, or more accurately, I met one for the first time and spent some time getting to know the other one better.

I’m going in indulge a little hometown bias and tell you first about Kyla Duffy. It turns out she also  lives Boulder. Of course, I didn’t meet her in Boulder, we stumbled into on other on Twitter.

Kyla and Bill

You can follow her @happytailsbooks, which is also the name of one of her projects. You have to visit her website, Happy Tails Books, to appreciate the full impact of what Kyla is doing. Essentially, Kyla collects stories from people who have rescued dogs and publishes them in beautiful slim volumes of “great stories with happy endings.” Kyla is particularly impassioned about the plight of puppy mill dogs. You see Bill in the picture? His is a long story that started in a cage in a puppy mill and ended happily in Kyla’s house, his forever home. He’s the muse behind Happy Tails Books. Do you have story? Well, then Share a ‘Tail”. It might get published! And, don’t forget to catch the Bill Blog.

But wait, there’ more! Kyla is taking her show on the road! What show? Well, she’s an aerial fabric artist and performer. Hmm. What’s that you wonder? Here she is performing at BlogPaws. She was amazing!

Kyla say, “This Don’t Kill Bill aerial performance includes a slideshow set to beautiful by Marilyn Milano, an animal advocate who is currently producing a CD to raise awareness and funding for shelter pets.” Eventually her performance will also incorporate Kyla performing dramatic readings of some of the stories submitted for her books. She’s taking the show on the road next year. Learn more about it on the Up For Pups blog and become a fan of Up For Pups on Facebook! Up For Pups! Humane Education Like You’ve Never Seen It Before. I’ll say!

Help Joey! So there was this table among the other vendor tables at BlogPaws with two guys wearing orange shirts emblazoned with Help Joey!

“What? Help Joey how?”

“Help Joey not to have sex!”

“If animals don’t have sex, they can’t have babies, therefore no overpopulation and no killing. So let’s just stop animals from having sex…okay?”

The team behind Help Joey is smart, funny, sincere, and they love dogs!

See, Joey is a stand in for all dogs and cats who aren’t neutered or spayed and out there, well, doin’ it. And rather than just saying “Spay and neuter you cats and dogs,” (yawn), the guys at Help Joey want to …..well, click on HelpJoey.com and watch the inaugural webisode. There are lots more to come. Are we lucky or what?

In the meantime you can follow @helpjoey on Twitter and ‘like’ Help Joey on Facebook.

That’s it for this week’s edition #FollowFriday Fab 4!

Have a great weekend. Do something fun with your dogs. They’ll love you for it! I’m taking Sadie and her buddy Romeo to Boulder Reservoir for some splishin’ and splashin’ right now!

Thanks for highlighting Happy Tails Books and Kyla’s video! Up for Pups is a wonderful organization; can’t wait to have Kyla on #dogtalk again!

For some reason, I couldn’t hear the Joey rep talking–maybe my computer sound is bad; but they were certainly a hit at Blog Paws!
